Encinitas Seeking Nominees For Environmental Award Program

The Encinitas Environmental Commission is seeking nominations for four environmental awards.

ENCINITAS -- The Encinitas Environmental Commission is seeking nominations for two Excellence in Environmental Stewardship Awards and two Environmental Hero Awards.

The Environmental Stewardship Award recognizes deserving individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations for their commitment to environmental stewardship and outstanding environmental achievements in the city.

In 2019, the Commission added the Environmental Hero category to recognize both an adult and a youth that are not necessarily affiliated with a business. The two awards will be given again along with the two Excellence in Environmental Stewardship awards that have been historically granted to a for-profit business and a non-profit business each year.

Each award is an environmentally-themed plaque presented by the Environmental Commission of the City of Encinitas. There will be one award winner in each of the four categories. The award is chosen by an Environmental Commission subcommittee through a competitive selection process.

Nominators may submit multiple nominations, but each nomination must be on a separate form. Self-nominations are also welcome. Nominators do not need to be Encinitas residents, but the nominees must (for individuals) reside in or (for organizations) be based in Encinitas.
