Flood Watch For Encinitas As Stormy Weather Returns To SoCal

The flood watch is in effect from noon Thursday to 4 p.m. Friday for the county's coastal areas, deserts, mountains and valleys.​

ENCINITAS, CA — The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for San Diego County, including Encinitas, as a seasonal storm brings rain and possible thunderstorms to Southern California.

Heavier and more widespread rainfall is expected late Thursday into Friday when rainfall rates could reach an inch per hour, according to the NWS.

The flood watch is in effect from noon Thursday to 4 p.m. Friday for the county's coastal areas, deserts, mountains and valleys. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

The NWS advised residents to monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings.

"Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop," forecasters said.
