North County Students Awarded Cal Coast Cares College Scholarships

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — Dozens of students in San Diego County — including students from North County — recently received college scholarships from the Cal Coast Cares Foundation, the nonprofit announced.

The Cal Coast Cares Foundation awarded more than $160,000 in scholarships to support college-bound high school seniors, foster students and current college students in San Diego and Riverside counties.

The foundation presented $2,000 scholarships to 59 students. The scholarship recipients are pursuing higher education and "have proven a commitment to academic excellence and leadership in the community," according to the nonprofit.

This year's awardees included 19 foster youth. The recipients of first-year foster student scholarships will also be eligible for second-year scholarships by continuing to meet the requirements, according to the foundation. (Their names were omitted from the list below for privacy reasons.)

Since its inception in 2015, the Cal Coast Cares Foundation has awarded more than $930,000 in scholarships and educator grants. The Cal Coast Cares Foundation is the nonprofit arm of California Coast Credit Union.
