North County Woman Wins New Car On 'The Price is Right'
Colette Garcia of Carlsbad appeared on Wednesday's episode of the longest-running game show.
CARLSBAD, CA — A woman from San Diego's North County won a brand new car on "The Price is Right."
Carlsbad resident Colette Garcia was the first contestant on stage on Wednesday's episode of television's longest-running game show.
She played a game called "Five Price Tags," where she had to correctly answer true or false questions to win chances to guess the retail price of the car. "Red's my color!" Garcia exclaimed when she saw the Calypso Red Hyundai Elantra SEL. The car was priced at $22,580 — which she correctly guessed on the second of her two guesses.

Garcia, a certified massage therapist, applied to be on the show through the show's website. She had a phone interview, followed by a Zoom interview with the show's producers before she was selected to attend the taping.
"I was ecstatic," she said. "I had a feeling I was going to be picked."
She remembers watching "The Price is Right" as a child growing up in California's San Joaquin Valley.
"I love 'The Price is Right,'" said Garcia, who has lived in the San Diego area for 15 years. "I watch it every day."
Garcia went to the taping with a friend. It was her first time ever participating in a game show. She said the experience was a "blast" and she most enjoyed meeting Carey and announcer George Gray.
"They are so easy-going and made me feel so comfortable," Garcia said. "It was really fun. I was so happy to have that experience."
