The Rhoades School in Encinitas is pleased to announce its elementary and middle school has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for the 2024–2027 program term. Schools apply and are selected for this distinction based on their commitment to continuous innovation in education and using Apple products to inspire, imagine, and impact teaching and learning. This designation marks the second consecutive renewal of the elementary and middle school’s designation as an Apple Distinguished School. All Rhoades School educators are Apple Teachers, and constantly collaborate with each other on the use of technology in the classroom to develop and implement new strategies.
“The Rhoades School is honored to have been selected as an Apple Distinguished School for the second consecutive time, demonstrating our commitment to use technology to transform the learning process for our students," commented Principal Joanne Pate. “The innovative use of technology allows our teachers to engage students in collaborative learning and ignite their curiosity and imagination across all subject areas.”

- Engaging student electives and clubs provide opportunities for students to explore their passions and interests, including the Girl Rising Club, which uses iPad to help create advertisements.
- Students take their learning outside of school as they serve the community through offering technology lessons at Casa de Amistad (a local community learning center) and connecting on video conference calls with students around the world.
- Students also create digital art portfolios using iPad, where they can collaborate, share and exercise their written and visual communications with peers.
