Roadwork In Encinitas For Mobility Enhancement Projects

Traffic Advisory: Two city projects will impact roads across town. Here's what to know and where to avoid until Feb. 17.

ENCINITAS, CA — The city of Encinias has begun two mobility enhancement projects that are affecting traffic this month.

The work on both projects began Monday and will continue through Feb. 10. The roadwork will occur daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the city said.

Saxony Road between Leucadia Boulevard and Encinitas Boulevard

"Crews will be repairing the road surface on Saxony Road between Leucadia Boulevard and Encinitas Boulevard to prepare for upcoming bike lanes, pedestrian facilities, and traffic-calming features as part of the Saxony Road & Quail Gardens Drive Mobility Enhancements Project," they said.

During construction, expect lane shifts and flaggers will be in place, with occasional traffic delays.

"Sidewalks will remain open, and cyclists will share the road near the work zone. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained," they said.

Sidewalk Closures at Regal Road and Melba Road Intersection

This roadwork began Monday, February 3 - and will continue through February 17, according to the city of Encinitas.

A new crosswalk will be installed at Regal Road and Melba Road, featuring:
• New curb ramps for improved accessibility
• Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) for enhanced visibility
• Additional signage and striping for pedestrian safety

Residents should expect partial sidewalk closures with detours in place.
