SigAlert: Semi-Truck Crashes Off Freeway, Shuts Down I-5 Lanes

ENCINITAS, CA — A crash involving a semi-truck prompted a SigAlert Friday morning on Interstate 5 in San Diego's North County.

The crash was reported at 3:39 a.m. on southbound I-5, north of Leucadia in Encinitas, according to the California Highway Patrol's incident log. The semi-truck veered off the roadway.

Authorities initially closed all southbound lanes due to the crash, but later reopened the far two left lanes, according to the CHP.

As of 5:17 a.m., the No. 3 and 4 southbound lanes remained closed. The lanes were expected to be closed for two to three hours, according to the CHP.
