Encinitas residents should know these 5 things today:
- Tickets are now on sale to Switchfoot's 2013 tour on switchfoot.com. The Encinitas band will play at Balboa Park, San Diego Nov. 5.
- Professional surfer Bethany Hamilton will greet fans at Hansen Surfboards 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at 1105 S. Coast Highway, Encinitas.
- Tickets are on sale for the 24th Annual Taste of Mainstreet Aug. 20 in Encinitas. They start at $25 and can be purchased online.Â
- Thursday will be partly cloudy with a high of 69, Weather.com reports.Â
- A new study by SANDAG found girls booked into Juvenile Hall in San Diego County abuse drugs at substantially higher rates than their male counterparts and face greater risk factors for delinquency.Â
Findings include:
• Girls were significantly more likely than boys to report using alcohol at an earlier age. The average age of first alcohol use is 11.8 for girls and 12.9 for boys.

• Girls were significantly more likely than boys to have tried methamphetamine (56% vs. 21%); ecstasy (60% vs. 27%); LSD (28% vs. 7%); and spice (76% vs. 45%).
• Girls also were significantly more likely than boys to have missed school due to drug use (50 % vs. 16%).
