Here are 5 Things of interest to Encinitas residents:
- Caltrans maintenance crews will close the southbound Interstate 5 (I- 5) connector to eastbound and westbound State Route (SR-78) for sign work on Saturdaymorning from 3-7, Caltrans reports. Detours will be posted directing travelers to continue on southbound I-5 to Las Flores, continue on Las Flores to northbound I-5, and continue northbound on I-5 to eastbound or westbound SR-78.
- Oceanside will be host to the largest women's surfing event in the world. It  will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the pier (details).
- Comedian Bill Maher will take the stage at 8 p.m. Sunday at Humphreys by the Bay. 2241 Shelter Island Drive, San Diego.
