Vulcan Avenue Construction Expected To Cause Delays Until Friday
Drivers are asked to exhibit caution while driving on southbound Vulcan Avenue as crews work on a pedestrian underpass.
ENCINITAS, CA — Encinitas drivers can expect delays and lane closures through the week as crews work on the El Portal Undercrossing project on Vulcan Avenue.
Drivers can expect intermittent lane closures and traffic shifts on southbound Vulcan Avenue until 7 p.m. Friday, the city said. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Drivers are asked to use caution while driving through the area.
Crews from the San Diego Association of Governments are placing concrete to construct new sidewalks and curbs on Vulcan Avenue. The project is part of a larger effort from SANDAG and the city of Encinitas to construct three grade-separate pedestrian under crossings along the LOSSAN rail corridor in Encinitas. A crossing at Santa Fe Drive was completed in 2013. Work on the El Portal Undercrossing began in 2020 and is scheduled to finish in summer 2022.
