Encino, Tarzana Commuters Spend 57 Minutes Getting to and from Work
An interactive map designed at the WNYC radio station shows the average commute time by ZIP codes.

The average motorcar commuter in Encino and Tarzana spends about 57.2 minutes driving both ways between home and work every day, according to an interactive map designed by WNYC, the nation's largest public radio station based in New York City.
For those in the 91316 and 91356 ZIP codes, the average one-way commute is 28.6 minutes. Click here to see the full WNYC story and interactive map. The map above shows how the one-way daily commute time for a particular neighborhood can vary by a minute or two.
Census figures show that about 8.1 percent of U.S. workers have commutes of 60 minutes or longer—known as long commutes—and nearly 600,000 full-time workers had "megacommutes" of at least 90 minutes and 50 miles.
