Reseda Man Charged With Murder In Girlfriend's Beating Death

A Reseda man allegedly confessed to beating to death the mother of his young child.

VAN NUYS, CA — A 35-year-old man who allegedly confessed to killing his live-in girlfriend in Reseda was charged Tuesday with murder.

Ricardo Sauz, who is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 10 at the Van Nuys courthouse, could face up to 25 years to life in state prison if convicted of the killing of 31-year-old Carolina Medina, who was also known as Zindy Carolina Gonzalez.

Paramedics sent to the 7500 block of Enfield Avenue around 10:50 a.m. last Thursday found the woman dead of blunt-force trauma. Sauz was interviewed at the scene and allegedly confessed to killing the woman, according to Los Angeles police, who said the two had a history of domestic violence.

The couple's young son, who was at the house when his mother was fatally injured, was taken into protective custody, according to LAPD Detective John Doerbecker.

Sauz is being held on $2 million bail, according to jail records.
