• Fountain Valley to adopt ordinance to comply with state's lot-splitting legislation (latimes.com subscription) — Fountain Valley’s City Council has approved a new ordinance setting strict local standards for SB 9 lot-split housing projects, including 800-square-foot unit caps and 16-foot height limits. The rules also require matching design features, neighbor notification before construction, and ban short-term rentals, giving the city more control over how added density appears in single-family neighborhoods.

• Pulitzer Prize-winning correspondent Peter Arnett, who reported from Vietnam and Gulf War, has died (ksgf.com) — Pulitzer Prize-winning war correspondent Peter Arnett, who spent his retirement years in Fountain Valley, has died at 91 in Newport Beach. Known for his frontline reporting from Vietnam and the Gulf War, he later settled quietly in Southern California with his wife after a long, controversial and influential journalism career.
