1 Person Killed In Alameda County Shooting, 1 Suspect In Custody: Police

Officers remained in the area to look for a possible suspect, police said.

FREMONT, CA — Police arrested one suspect in connection to a shooting that left one person dead earlier Tuesday.

At 10:37 a.m. on Tuesday, the Fremont Police Department received multiple 911 calls that reported a person had been shot in the area of Northport Loop West in Fremont.

When officers arrived on scene they said they found a person on the ground with a gunshot would and began providing medical aid until paramedics arrived and took over the care.

The person was then transported to the hospital where they were pronounced dead, police said.

The FPD announced at 12:40 a.m. they would be shutting a portion of the 45000 block of Northport Loop West for several hours due to police activity.

Police said they learned a possible suspect was still in the area and they were soon detained by officers.

The scene remains active and the FPD are asking people to remain out of the area while the investigation continues.

The names of the victim and the suspect have not been released.

No other information is available at this time.

This is the second reported homicide in Fremont this year. The first came on June 20.
