5 Arrested After Bogus 9-1-1 Call Reporting Shots Fired

Five suspects were arrested after a false report of a shooting Thursday afternoon in Fremont, police said.

At about 4 p.m. on Thursday officers recovered a license plate that belonged to a stolen vehicle located in the 4300 block of Gina Street. Before an officer was able to check a nearby video surveillance system, an anonymous caller reported a shooting in progress near the intersection of San Pedro Drive and Thornton Avenue, police said.

Police dispatch determined that the 911 call was coming from the area of the residence on Gina Street. Officers made contact with a female suspect and determined that the shooting was merely a ruse to distract officers away from the residence on Gina Street and allow the residents time to flee the house, police said.

Police surrounded the house and five suspects were taken into custody. Three women and two men at the residence were arrested. One suspect was arrested in connection with the stolen vehicle, one suspect was arrested for a $0 bail dangerous weapon warrant, two suspects were arrested for possession of methamphetamine, and one suspect was arrested for child endangerment, according to police.
