ACSO Bomb Squad Responds To Incident In Fremont

A report of an explosion inside a vehicle causes road closure.

FREMONT, CA — The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad responded to reports of an explosion inside a vehicle in Fremont at about 7:20 p.m., Monday, Aug. 22, ACSO officials announced on social media.

According to the post on Twitter, upon their arrival deputies found flammable gas cylinders and other chemicals in the vehicle.

ACSO said the explosion was not caused by a bomb but was the result of “spontaneous combustion and unsafe transport of hazardous materials.”

Fremont Police closed a portion of Fremont Boulevard between Old Warm Springs and South Grimmer boulevards while ACSO deputies and Fremont police officers investigated the incident. The roadway reopened just after 10:30 p.m., officials said.
