Classes for Parents of Troubled Teens Begin Next Month
Two Parent Project sessions will begin in October.

Back by popular demand, the City's Youth and Family Services has scheduled two new Parent Project® sessions that will begin in October. One class will be held in English and the second in Spanish.
The program is designed to help parents who are having a tough time with their adolescent children and provides effective prevention and intervention techniques designed to help their teens grow into safe and competent adults. Parent Project® is a 13-week class series that delivers results to families.
Program outcomes include:
- Stop arguments and end conflicts at home
- Recognize, prevent and intervene in dangerous activities (alcohol, drugs, tobacco use and gangs).
- Improve school attendance and performance.
- Improve family relationships and create peace in the home
- Motivate and influence teens
Beginning October 9th, a class in English will meet for 13 weeks on Tuesday evenings and on October 10th, a second class in Spanish will meet for 13 weeks on Wednesday evenings.

A one time $35 material fee is required at time of registration and a weekly fee based on income will also be required. Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to attend class together.
Class Instructors:
Jody Montgomery has taught 20 years in local public schools and has facilitated parent/teacher/adolescent educational enrichment
workshops. Jody is a certified Parent Project facilitator.
Luz Ponce is the Family Literacy Facilitator and Community Liaison at
Searles Elementary School as well as a Spanish translator with the New Haven Unified School District. She is also a Parent Education Instructor and Parenting Workshop Facilitator. Luz is a certified Parent Project facilitator.
