Coroner IDs Fremont Motorcyclist Killed On I-680

BREAKING: The man let his motorcycle drift into the center median and strike the divider, CHP Officer Tyler Hahn said.

FREMONT, CA — A motorcyclist who died Monday morning after a crash on Interstate Highway 680 in unincorporated Alameda County near Sunol has been identified by the county coroner's bureau this morning as 22-year-old Fremont man Eric Rich. Rich died after crashing into the center divider on northbound Highway 680 near Koopman Road and state Highway 84 at about 7:35 a.m.

Rich, for a reason yet to be determined, let his motorcycle drift into the center median and strike the divider, CHP Officer Tyler Hahn said. Rich was taken to Eden Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, Hahn said.

The crash blocked northbound lanes of the highway until shortly after 10 a.m.
