Dole Packaged Salads Recalled In Fremont Amid Listeria Risk
The company expanded its voluntary recall of salads following a 2021 listeria outbreak that killed two people.

FREMONT, CA — Dole Fresh Vegetables, Inc. has expanded a voluntary recall of packaged salads containing iceberg lettuce due to the risk of Listeria, federal officials announced this week. The salads were sold here in Fremont and throughout California.
"Consumers who still have any of these products in their refrigerators are urged not to consume the product and to discard it immediately," the company wrote in a statement posted by the Food and Drug Administration.
The salads packaged in California were sold under the labels Dole, HEB and Presidents Choice.

Healthy people may only suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths, according to the FDA.
The expanded recall includes Dole and private label packages that include iceberg lettuce. The lettuce was processed in Springfield, Ohio and Soledad, California, according to the company.
The equipment used to harvest iceberg lettuce tested positive for listeria, according to Dole.
No illnesses have been reported with the most recent recall, which involves products that were sold in two dozen states, including California.
Possibly compromised products from Springfield include a product code beginning with the letter "W" and a "Best If Used By" date between Dec. 22, 2021 and Jan. 9, 2022.
Products voluntarily recalled from Soledad are identified by a product code beginning with the letter "B" and a "Best If Used By" date between Dec. 23, 2021 and Jan. 8, 2022.
"No other Dole products, including fresh fruit and field-packed fresh vegetables, are part of these voluntary recalls and are safe to consume," the company said.
Questions about the recalls can be directed to the Dole Consumer Response Center at 800-356-3111, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pacific Time.
