Driver Killed In I-680 Crash ID'd

The crash happened in Fremont last week.

FREMONT, CA — A man who died in a traffic collision on Interstate Highway 680 in Fremont on Tuesday was identified by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office as Eduardo Tovaraleman, a 37-year-old resident of Los Banos in Merced County.

Tovaraleman was driving a 1992 GMC Sierra pickup truck in the northbound lanes of Highway 680 north of Sheridan Road at about 6:30 a.m. when he collided with the rear end of a three-axle Peterbilt dirt hauler semi-trailer.

After the impact, Tovaraleman's truck veered off the highway and up a dirt embankment. It struck a tree and a streetlight and came to rest on its roof. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The California Highway Patrol said no other injuries were reported.
