DUI Suspect Almost Causes Crash With Train In Fremont After Stopping On Tracks: PD

The train managed to stop roughly 50 yards from the car, authorities said.

FREMONT, CA — A DUI suspect was arrested after stopping their vehicle on a railroad track in Fremont and forcing a train to make an emergency stop, police said.

A train operator was forced to make an emergency stop in the area of Stevenson Boulevard on Sept. 20 to avoid crashing into a car that had stopped on the tracks, authorities said.

The train managed to come to a stop about 50 yards south of the car, the Fremont Police Department told Patch.

When officers arrived, they talked to the driver, who admitted to drinking before driving, police said, adding that he was subsequently taken into custody.

Police did not say why the driver stopped on the tracks or if they had gotten stuck.
