Off-Duty Fremont Firefighter Dies

FREMONT, CA — The Fremont Fire Department announced this week that firefighter Anthony Ganzler died Monday while off-duty.

"Fire Chief Zoraida Diaz was notified by the Fire Chief of the Elk Grove Fire Department that Fremont Firefighter Anthony Ganzler suffered a cardiac event and passed away in Elk Grove, CA," the fire department announced on social media.

Ganzler had been with the Fremont Fire Department since 2019, when he transferred from another department.

"We extend our deepest condolences to Anthony’s family, friends and loved ones throughout our own ranks and beyond."

Information on a public memorial service is not immediately available.
