Facebook Employee Helps Police Find Owners of Lost Wedding Album
The album was turned into police last Tuesday after it was found underneath a tree at KinderCare day center.
The owner of a wedding album that was discovered near a Fremont child care center last Tuesday has been located with the help of social media, police said today.
The album was found outside a KinderCare day care center encased in a gold briefcase adorned with the words "Happy Wedding 12/04/2008 in USA" and a wedding picture, police said.
The briefcase was full of wedding photos. The front of the briefcase also read "Vijay weds Ranjit," police said.

After hearing about the find, a Facebook employee began a search on the social media site and found someone who was possibly the husband in the photographs, Fremont police Officer Geneva Bosques said.
The employee messaged the person about the lost album and received a response confirming that he owns it.

With the help of the Facebook employee and people who recognized the couple from the pictures, police have acquired phone numbers and an email address for the husband and are attempting to work with relatives to return the album to the couple, Bosques said.
The husband is overseas and said he thought the album was in a storage unit, Bosques said. Police are investigating the possibility of a break-in at the storage facility.
It is unclear if the husband and wife in the photographs are from the Bay Area but the statement from the husband about a storage unit leads police to believe the couple will be returning to the region, Bosques said.
