2 Die In Mission Boulevard Wreck

Police updated an earlier report that one person died when a vehicle crashed into a tree.

FREMONT, CA — Two people died when a car crashed into a tree in Fremont on Wednesday night, according to police.

Officers responded at about 10:25 p.m. to a crash reported in the area of Castro Lane and Mission Boulevard and found a vehicle had struck a tree. The car's two occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, Fremont police said.

Investigators determined the vehicle was traveling east and approaching Mission Boulevard at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and the crash occurred. The cause of the collision, including whether impairment was a factor, remains under investigation.
