Fremont-based Battery Maker EnerVenue Leases 64,000-Square-Foot Build

EnerVenue's new Freemont location will be used for research, development and manufacturing

FREMONT, CA — Fremont-based manufacturer EnerVenu announced the lease of a 64,000-square-foot building, to be used to expand the company’s corporate footprint.

The announcement, made on the EnerVenu website Tuesday, Aug. 2, said the new facility, located at 3500 Gateway Boulevard will provide EnerVenue with a mixed-use facility ideal for the company’s growth.

“We’ve seen incredible growth in our first two years, with global partnerships, significant funding and a truly differentiated grid-scale energy storage solution,” EnerVenue CEO Jorg Heinemann said in the news release. “In vetting locations for our long-term future, we considered our aggressive development plans and the facilities we’ll require for what’s to come. We’re proud to be able to continue to build and grow in the city of Fremont.”

EnerVenue was the first company to bring bring metal-hydrogen batteries capable of 30,000 cycles to the clean energy revolution, the news release said.

The new facility is four times the square footage of EnerVenue’s existing headquarters in Fremont and will provide the company with the necessary space to increase sales, service, research and development and manufacturing, the news release said.

The company, founded in 2020, has created more than 150 jobs in Fremont.

“The city of Fremont is thrilled to witness EnerVenue’s continued commitment to our community,” Fremont Mayor Lily Mei said. “Fremont is perfectly situated to leverage Silicon Valley’s best and we believe EnerVenue will benefit from the city’s central location, excellent facilities, and access to world-class talent.”

Mei said the company’s expansion “could not come at a more needed time” as the world faces “dual challenges” of combating climate change and rapidly modernizing the power grid for a “clean electric future.”

EnerVenue chief operating officer Frank Blohm said the space, which the company plans to move into during the second half of 2022, “aligns perfectly” with the company’s plans for growth.

“The new space represents a key milestone as EnerVenue ramps toward large-scale production,” Blohm said.
