Fremont PD Reminds Residents Of Scheduled Road Closures

FREMONT, CA — The Fremont Police Department took to social media Thursday to remind residents and travelers of some upcoming road closures for special events and regular maintenance this weekend.

There will be an all day closure of Niles Canyon Road between Fremont and Sunol for maintenance Work from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. August 26, 2023,Fremont PD tweeted on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter.

During the closure crews will repair electrical lines, remove dirt and debris from right-hand shoulders, trim trees for road clearance and perform landscape work including weeding, mowing and clearing plugged drains, Fremont PD said.

"California Highway Patrol officers and directional signage will be in place to guide motorists. Every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience, but motorists should expect delays," Fremont PD said.

A second set of road closures will take place Sunday, Aug. 27, due to the Niles Antique Faire and Flea Market in the Niles District from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Niles boulevard between G Street and J Street, G, H and I Street between Second Street and Niles Boulevard and Iron Horse Lane between H and I Street will all be closed. The City of Fremont Parking Lots next to Niles Plaza will be closed from 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27.

The Fremont Police Department is asking attendees to leave backpacks and large bags at home.

"All bags are subject to search," Fremont PD said in a news release about the event. "In addition, UAVs (drones) will not be permitted to fly over the event."
