Fremont's Procera Networks Acquires Canadian Network Intelligence Company

The Fremont company purchased Canada's Vineyard Networks in a $28 million deal.

 

Fremont-based network intelligence company Procera has acquired Vineyard Networks in a reported $28 million deal.

Procera, a publicly-held company, specializes in “deep packet inspection” software for mobile and broadband networks. Vineyard, a Canada-based company, is a leader in the technology, according to a press release posted on Procera’s website.

The acquisition will allow the company to extend its reach in the growing network intelligence technology market, the press release states.

The deal is expected to bring in up to $5 million in revenue for Procera’s 2013 earnings.

According to the Fremont Argus, Procera’s shares fell slightly and closed at $18.05 on Monday.

Investment advice website The Motley Fool highlighted Procera in a weekly business spotlight segment Monday, noting:

Procera is growing revenue at a phenomenal rate (consistently around 40%) and it's adding high-level customers into the fold. We appear to be on the cusp of another major infrastructure expansion in mobile and Procera's revenue, not coincidentally, is geared predominantly toward mobile service providers.
