Fire Destroys 53 Fremont Storage Units
The Monday morning blaze sent black smoke high into the air.

FREMONT, CA — A total of 53 storage spaces were destroyed by fire in Fremont Monday morning, the Fremont Fire Department said in an update on Facebook Monday afternoon. There were no reports of injuries.
The fire broke out around 6 a.m. on Monday at Extra Space Storage, 38491 Fremont Blvd.

It took less than an hour for firefighters to knock down the flames, although firefighters remained at the scene through Monday to deal with any flare-ups in the smoldering debris.

Flames were shooting through the roof of the two-story building when firefighters arrived.
The cause is under investigation. The building has been red-tagged — preventing people from entering it to sort through their belongings for anything that can be salvaged.
The fire department shared photos of the flames courtesy of Extra Space Storage.
