FUSD Announces Plan To Fill Vacant Board Of Education Trustee Seat
The provisional appointment will serve Trustee Area 1 until November of 2024 following the resignation of former trustee Desrie Campbell.
FREMONT, CA — Fremont Unified School District has announced its intention to fill a vacancy in Trustee Area 1 by appointment following the resignation of former trustee Desrie Campbell.
According to a new release issued by the district, Campbell's resignation took effect Dec. 12 and the FUSD Board is asking residents of Trustee Area 1 who are interested in applying for the position to do so either online or at the district office, located at 4210 Technology Drive in Fremont, during normal business hours.
All candidates who are interested in serving on the Board of Education must meet the minimum qualifications established by Education Code 35107. Those qualifications include being 18 years of age or older and a resident of District Area 1. Candidates must also be registered voters and not be disqualified by the Constitution or laws of the state from holding a civil office.

To determine if they are residents of Trustee Area 1, potential candidates can find the boundary map on the district website here.
"Employees of the district are eligible to serve on the Board provided they resign their position in the district prior to being sworn into office," the district said. "If the employee does not resign their position within the district, their employment will automatically terminate upon being sworn-in."

All submitted application materials (address, phone, and other personal information is redacted) will be made available for public review as part of the Board of Education documents related to the selection process.
The deadline for all materials to be submitted is January 13, 2023 at 4:30 p.m. and applications must be submitted in hard copy with an original signature, the district said.

The appointed trustee will serve until November of 2024 to complete the term of the position vacated by Campbell.
