Gold Chain, iPhones Snatched in String of Strong-Arm Robberies

Three people were robbed of jewelry and cell phones in a string of strong-arm robberies on Friday and Saturday.

According to the Fremont Police Department, the first robbery was reported Friday morning at about 10:25 a.m. A female victim flagged down an officer near the Peralta Boulevard and Mowry Avenue intersection and told him that she’d just been robbed.

The suspect ripped a gold necklace from her neck and fled on foot southbound on Bonner Avenue. He was described as a heavyset black male adult between 19 and 25 years old and standing at about 5-foot-10. He was wearing a black baseball cap, black hoodie and backpack.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

Later that morning, at about 11:50 a.m., a victim reported that she was sitting at a bench near Paseo Padre Parkway and Capitol Avenue and talking on a phone when a male suspect approached her from behind, grabbed her phone and ran westbound through Murco Plaza.

That suspect was described as an unknown race male, about 5-foot-8 with a medium build wearing black shorts and a black shirt.

A third strong-arm robbery was reported Saturday at the Fremont Hub.

The victim was walking with a friend near the AT&T store when a suspect walked up and demanded the victim’s phone, or else the suspect would beat them up.

The suspect grabbed the phone and took off running southbound on Fremont Boulevard near the Chili’s restaurant. He was described as a black male adult about 25 or 26 years old, 6-feet tall with a skinny build, and wearing khaki pants and a sky blue t-shirt with a red Nike swoosh on it.
