FREMONT, CA — The good news: a 12-mile stretch of Interstate Highway 880 in Fremont is going to be completely repaved, including onramps and exit ramps.

The bad news: it's going to take two years.

Caltrans will start in the northbound lanes on Monday, April 1. Currently, most work is scheduled for the overnight hours to minimize traffic disruptions.

There will be signs in place, and the California Highway Patrol will be on hand to safeguard both drivers and workers.

One or more lanes will be closed at a time to accommodate the work and reopened for the morning commute.

The work will stretch from Dixon Landing Road at the Alameda County/Santa Clara County line to Alvarado Boulevard in Fremont.
