According to the Fremont Police Department, the victim met up with the suspect at around 12:15 p.m. at a gas station on Dixon Landing Road in Milpitas. The suspect checked out the car, a 2003 Nissan 350z, and took it for a test drive.

The suspect drove down Dixon Landing Road and then west along Warm Springs Boulevard before turning off onto other roads. The victim told investigators that it felt as if the suspect was driving in circles.

The suspect eventually pulled over and asked to look under the hood. They exited the vehicle and as they were talking, the victim was hit from behind, possibly by a second suspect, said Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques.

The victim lost consciousness and contacted police at about 1:15 p.m. Because of the assault, he could not recall all of the details, police said.
