Mission Fire In The Bay Area Is 100% Contained
A brush fire ignited Monday afternoon with a quick rate of spread.
ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — A fire in the hills of Alameda County broke out Monday afternoon, emitting large amounts of smoke spreading quickly, fire officials said.
Cal Fire Santa Clara reported responding to the Mission Fire at 1:51 p.m. on Mission Road and Andrade Road in Sunol, CA. A UC San Diego wild fire camera recorded the vegetation fire bellowing large plumes of smoke east of Fremont. Units were on the scene working to contain the fast moving fire, Cal Fire said.
No structures were immediately threatened.

At 8:36 a.m. on Tuesday, Cal Fire reported the fire was 100% contained at 64 acres.

"Air and ground resources are working diligently to contain this fast growing fire. Additional resources are enroute from CAL FIRE and Alameda County Fire," Cal Fire officials said.

The Mission Fire, initially reported at 1:53 p.m. as 10 acres, rapidly grew.
By 2:11 p.m. it was 20 acres with potential for 200, prompting requests for two air tankers and one helicopter.

At 2:25 p.m., it reached 50 acres with 0% containment, revising potential spread to 75 acres, and one helicopter was canceled.
By 3:07 p.m., forward progress was stopped at 70 acres and 25% containment.
As of 6:45 p.m., 75% of the fire was contained and it was now 64 acres, according to Cal Fire Santa Clara.
The cause of the fire is not known.
Non injuries were reported.
