FREMONT, CA — A new bakery, Pineapple King, opened in Fremont less than two weeks ago and the San Francisco Chronicle is already raving about "its signature warm pineapple buns, or bolo bao (which are not made with pineapple in them but resemble the outside of the fruit with their sugary, crackly crusts)."

Pineapple King is a popular San Francisco bakery and the owners say they frequently received requests to expand to the East Bay from residents who drove all the way to San Francisco for their signature sweets.

Lucky for Fremont residents, the owners picked Warm Springs Boulevard for their first East Bay location.

The warm pineapple buns can be stuffed with a large selection of fillings. The most popular are butter, custard, BBQ pork, salted egg, and ube.

The bakery's website also touts a pudding baguette, "This is the hottest bun in Hong Kong right now. It's a creme brulee pudding baked inside a baguette."
