• At Least 5 'Unkempt' Dogs Abandoned Across Bay Area City (patch.com) — Fremont police and animal services are investigating after at least five unkempt dogs, believed to be from the same owner, were abandoned in different parts of the city over several days. Dogs were found near Quarry Lakes, North Grimmer, and Irvington Park, with another still loose near Quarry Lakes, and residents are urged to share any information with Fremont Animal Services. 
• California: 93-year-old charged with murder after wife fatally shot in grocery store parking (wicnews.com) — Fremont readers should know that 86-year-old resident Patricia “Patty” Hocking was fatally shot in a van parked at a grocery store lot on Mowry Avenue, and her 93-year-old husband has been charged with murder. Police say he called 911 himself, neighbors described her chronic pain and his caregiving role, and a judge ordered him held without bail at Santa Rita Jail.
