Pedestrian Killed By Suspected Drunk Driver; Suspect Arrested: Police

The crash happened on Fremont Boulevard. The suspect is from elsewhere in the Bay Area.

FREMONT, CA — Close to midnight last Friday a suspected drunk driver struck and killed a pedestrian in the 45000 block of Fremont Boulevard, Fremont Police said on Tuesday.

The victim's name is not immediately available.

The suspect has been identified as Hung Vuu, 58, of Sunnyvale. Vuu was later arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury.

According to police, Vuu left the scene of the accident but crashed into a traffic signal pole a quarter of a mile away. He suffered minor injuries in the collision and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

This is Fremont’s first fatal traffic collision in 2024.
