Police Confirm I-680 Pedestrian Death Was Suicide
A 59-year-old Fremont woman hit by a car early Sunday morning either walked or jumped into freeway traffic, according to media reports.

Authorities believe that a pedestrian death along I-680 in Fremont early Sunday morning was a suicide, according to media reports.
Fremont police told the Bay Area News Group that the woman — identified as 59-year-old Linda Charles of Fremont — either walked into traffic or jumped onto the freeway from an overpass before she was run over.
The incident occurred at around 12:25 a.m. Sunday when a 1989 Toyota struck Charles in a northbound lane near the Warm Springs exit, according to BANG.

She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The day before the incident, Fremont police received a call from one of Charles’ family members saying that she was missing.

"The caller stated that his family member had left the house and a letter indicating that she was suicidal," Bosques told BANG. "The letter also had specific information about the location of the Palm Ave/I-680 overpass.”
