Police Log: Errant Golf Ball Leads To Beating; 'Helpful' Boyfriend Drunk and Delusional
Teens crash stolen car, lots of hold-ups, and more from July 4 to 10.

The following is a summary of significant crime and incidents reported in Fremont between July 4 and 10 as released by the Fremont Police Department.
Wednesday, July 10
Woman blocks police from answering 911 call. A woman at8 a.m. called police from a Pickering Avenue home. When officers arrived, another woman, 59, told them to go away and refused to open the door. Officers persisted and she complied, somewhat, putting up her hands but still refusing entry. The female caller, meanwhile, was in the background telling officers she needed help. The door blocker became combative, scratching and bruising police, but was ultimately arrested.
- Suspected package thief arrested. Refugio Aldama, a 27-year-old transient, was arrested after a citizen tip. Story here.
- Two bicyclists struck by car on Newark Boulevard and Ruschin Drive. The bicyclists were injured but police did not release details. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Details here.
- Drunken ruckus. Two intoxicated men sitting in lawn chairs were hassling customers at the Sala Thai Restaurant on State Street at about 5:45 p.m. Officers requested they leave, and one did. However, 10 minutes later, officers returned and found the other, a Fremont transient, 42, still in the chair but now asleep. He was arrested for public intoxication.
- Burglar scores Vikings gear and ladies shoes. A burglary at the Warm Springs Public Storage was reported with loss of Minnesota Vikings paraphernalia and at least 50 pairs of women’s shoes.
Golf game gets ugly. On the fourth hole of the Stevenson Place golf course, a father and daughter's golf ball accidentally hit another foursome’s golf cart. One of the foursome's players responded by confronting and beating the father and then fleeing in a golf cart.

DUI arrest of "helpful" boyfriend. An officer driving northbound on I-880 at 1 a.m. was approached from behind by a vehicle travelling at an estimated 90 mph. The driver was stopped and became belligerent with police, stating he was going to help his girlfriend who lived in Pleasanton and was in distress. He had not contacted the Pleasanton Police Department, he said, as "only he could help." Officers contacted the girlfriend -- an ex -- who said she was okay and she had no idea what he was talking about. The motorist, a 40-year-old Lodi man, smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and was arrested for DUI.
Teen punched, robbed of jewelry. A teenage boy flagged down officers at Mission View Drive and Fremont Boulevard reporting a strong-armed robbery by two males, who punched him in the face and took his gold chain, bracelet and watch. The suspects, both 17, were located down the street, and the stolen items were recovered.

- Masked gunman robs Jack in the Box, impersonates drive-thru attendant. Full story here.
Vicious dogs. Officers responded to the Lopes Court and Grimmer Boulevard area where two vicious German shepherds were running loose. The dogs' owner could not be located, and dogs were taken into custody and placed into Animal Control lockers.
- Burglary suspects on rampant spree. Story here.
Possession of pot for sale. A 25-year-old man was arrested at a home on Baldwin Place after a warrant search turned up three pounds of dry processed marijuana and more than 300 marijuana plants.
Stolen vehicle crash. Auto thieves crashed a stolen vehicle into a retaining wall on Decoto Road at Fremont Boulevard. One passenger fled was was not located. The two teens in the car were transported to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The vehicle was stolen from Hayward.
- Attempted McDonald's robbery. A man who kept his hands in his pockets and was wearing a blue and white bandana over his face entered the Decoto Road McDonald's and demanded money. The suspect, described as a black male, 30 to 35 years old, wearing a black hoodie, left without any money and was last seen heading towards Fremont Boulevard.
- Man with gun? Officers flooded the area of Niles Boulevard at the Sullivan Underpass after a report of a man with a handgun holding someone on the ground. A 51-year-old male who matched the reported description was stopped by police, but no gun was found and no victim located. He was released.
- Fast & Easy stick-up. Fast & Easy Mart on Ardenwood Boulevard was robbed at 11:30 p.m. by a suspect described as a black male in his 20s, wearing a hoodie and armed with a black handgun. He was seen getting into a dark green or black Nissan driven by a black female. The car had red paper plates.
- Hit-and-run. A motorist struck and injured a teen bicyclist at Paseo Padre Parkway and Stevenson Boulevard. The boy was riding in the southbound bike lane on Paseo Padre when he was clipped by the car and knocked to ground. There is no description of the driver who fled the scene.
- Shooting into a dwelling. A resident on the 37000 block of Briarwood called police after finding a bullet that had gone through his front screen door. The incident was believed to have occurred on July 4th.

- Oops, drunk asks Newark police for ride. A Fremont man, 26, called 911 at 1:48 a.m. from Cedar Boulevard stating he was too intoxicated to get home. He was arrested for public intoxication.
- Man hit with stick for his wallet. A man was hit with a stick and robbed of his wallet in front of his apartment on Hastings Street. The two suspects were described as a white male wearing a white As jersey and shorts; and a man in his 20s, either white or Hispanic, wearing red shorts and a white vest.
