Sex Offender Tries To Touch Kids At Store: Fremont Police

FREMONT, CA — A registered sex offender was arrested last week after trying to touch children at a Fremont store, according to police.
The incident occurred May 25 at a thrift store in the 41200 block of Blacow Road, police said, adding they received several calls about a disturbance at the business.
A male in the store was yelling, trying to touch young children and announced that he was going to kidnap a child, according to police, who said the male threatened to hit a person with a baseball bat before fleeing on foot toward a nearby high school.

The store HOPEThrift is located on the block named by police and is across the street from Irvington High School.
Officers found the male, who was out of compliance with sex offender registration requirements, and arrested him, police said.
