Gunman In Vehicle Fires Hail Of Bullets At Man, Flees Onto Highway
"This kind of violence is unacceptable in our community."
FREMONT, CA — A man was hospitalized in stable condition after being shot in Fremont on Monday night, and police are searching for the suspect, authorities said.
Officers responded around 10:13 p.m. on April 7 to reports of gunfire near Central Avenue and Joseph Street, according to a report from the Fremont Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Fremont Fire Department personnel provided medical aid before the victim was transported to a nearby hospital.
“This appears to be a targeted incident,” Fremont Police spokesperson Sgt. Kim MacDonald said Tuesday. “We want to assure the community that we are actively investigating and following up on all leads.”

According to police, a suspect vehicle approached the victim, fired multiple shots and then fled north on Thornton Avenue and onto Interstate Highway 880.
“This kind of violence is unacceptable in our community,” MacDonald said. “We’re asking anyone who saw or heard anything unusual in the area to come forward.”
Investigators have not released a description of the suspect or the vehicle.
