Tesla Issues Recall on Model S for Rear Seat Latch Problem

No injuries or complaints were received, the company said.

Tesla has issued a recall on its popular all-electric Model S cars due to an issue with the car’s rear seat latch, the company announced in a blog post Wednesday

The cars are manufactured in Fremont.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk wrote in the blog that a mounting bracket for the rear left seat “could be weaker than intended.”

“This reduces our confidence that the left hand seat back will be properly retained in the event of a crash,” Musk wrote.

The problem only affects those cars manufactured between May 10 and June 8 of this year.

The recall is being done as a precaution and no complaints or injury reports have been received, Musk said.

“Given the paramount importance of safety, we would like to reinforce the left striker bracket on cars produced during this period,” he wrote.

Affected owners will be contacted by the company for repairs and a loaner Model S will be provided if necessary.
