These Streets Will Be Closed For The Niles Festival Of Lights Parade In Fremont

FREMONT, CA — The Niles Festival of Lights Parade returns next week, and with it come road closures around Fremont. Here's what to know.

The parade will take place on Friday, Nov. 28. Road closures will be in place from noon to 9 p.m.

The Fremont Police Department said the following streets will be closed for the parade:

  • Niles Boulevard between J Street and Hillview Drive in both directions.
  • The intersection of Hillview Drive will remain open for traffic.
  • Iron Horse Lane between J and F streets
  • D, E, F, G, H and I streets, between Second Street and Niles Boulevard
  • Iron Horse Lane between F and J streets
  • Sullivan Underpass
  • Large City parking lot next to Niles Town Plaza
  • Small City parking lot next to Niles Town Plaza

The parade, a day after Thanksgiving, kicks off the Christmas season in Fremont. There will be dozens of floats, marching bands, costumed characters and Santa Claus, according to organizers. The parade starts at 6 p.m.

No chairs are allowed on the sidewalk or spectator area before 10 a.m. on Friday as organizers need to keep the area clear and accessible during setup, according to police.

The Fremont Police Department also warned attendees that large bags and backpacks are subject to a search. Drones will also not be permitted to fly over the event area, they added.
