Upcoming Road Closure In Fremont Expected To Create Traffic Headaches
The closure is part of an "extreme" maintenance project, which includes graffiti removal and rail line repairs, authorities said.

FREMONT, CA — State Route 84 in Niles Canyon will be closed this weekend for an "extreme maintenance project," police said.
The project by Caltrans will include rail line repairs, guardrail and fence repairs, tree trimming, graffiti removal and electrical work, according to authorities.
"This concentrated effort enhances safety and roadway reliability for motorists, pedestrians, and local communities," the Fremont Police Department said in a statement last week.

A separate project by Caltrans along the SR-84 will shut down the road near the unincorporated town of Sunol every Wednesday until Oct. 24, authorities said.
In this case, a temporary one-way traffic control will be implemented as crews work to install new guardrails on the eastbound SR-84, according to authorities.
