Monday, June 17, 2013; mid-2014 reopening planned.

WHERE:

Warren Avenue, between Kato Road and Mission Falls Court, in Fremont.

Additionally, eastbound Mission Boulevard, between Interstate 880 and Warm Springs Boulevard, will also be closed June 7-8, 2013, from midnight to 5 a.m. (late Friday night/early Saturday morning). Eastbound Mission will be closed so work crews can safely move a construction crane from one side of the roadway to the other. Westbound Mission Boulevard will remain open. This, like the 12-month Warren Avenue closure beginning June 17, 2013, is part of the Mission Warren Area Improvements Project.

Mission Warren Area Improvements Project

This project is a partnership between VTA, the Alameda County Transportation Commission (ACTC), City of Fremont, Federal Highway Administration and Caltrans to ease congestion, enhance safety, prepare the corridor for BART Silicon Valley and improve local traffic circulation. Warren Avenue will be lowered beneath the existing railroad corridor. A series of three new bridges (UPRR, BART, maintenance), will be constructed over a fully-depressed, grade-separated Warren Avenue. Additionally, Mission Boulevard will be widened from Interstate 880 to Warm Springs Boulevard and will include new ramps to and from Kato Road. New UPRR and BART bridges will also be constructed over Mission Boulevard.

VTA BART Silicon Valley

The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Silicon Valley Project is a 16-mile extension of the existing BART system to San Jose, Milpitas and Santa Clara, which will be delivered through a phased approach. The first phase, the Berryessa Extension, is a 10-mile, two-

station extension, beginning in Fremont south of the future BART Warm Springs Station and proceeding in the former Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way through Milpitas, the location of the first station, and then to the Berryessa area of north San Jose, at the second station. VTA continues project development activities for the second 6-mile phase of the project that includes a 5.1 mile-long subway tunnel through downtown San Jose, ending at grade in Santa Clara near the Caltrain Station. Construction on the second phase of the project will commence as additional funding is secured.
