Fresno Girl Kicked Off High School Team For Retweeting Snoop Dogg

Racquel Alec was reportedly banned from playing on her high school basketball team after she retweeted the Long Beach rapper.

FRESNO, CA -- Snoop Dogg this week responded to a report of a Fresno girl being kicked off her high school basketball team after she retweeted the popular rapper. Racquel Alec, 18, was banned from the team after she reportedly shared a photo of Snoop Dogg holding marijuana, the Fresno Bee reported.

In an Instagram post, Long Beach native Snoop Dogg said "Have her lawyers hit my team this is nonsense."

In response to the action, the family filed a lawsuit against Sierra High School, the newspaper reported.

"Her lawyer alleges that the district’s punishment was an overreaction and a violation of her freedom of speech 'for merely a passive clicking/liking of an image posted of a celebrity artist,'" the Fresno Bee wrote.

The lawsuit also accuses the vice principal of harassing Alec for her actions on social media. But, "an internal investigation conducted by the 1,300-student Sierra Unified School District last spring cleared the vice principal/coach of wrongdoing," edweek.org reported.

"In a brief interview, Superintendent Melissa Ireland said only that 'our [social-media] policy is directly aligned with California state law' before referring additional questions to the district's lawyer," edweek.org wrote.
