Fresno EOC LGBTQ+ Resource Center to close due to funding shortfall (kmph.com) — Fresno’s LGBTQ+ Resource Center, run by Fresno EOC, will close on Saturday, December 27 due to a funding shortfall, ending support services it has provided since 2019. Staff say they’re grateful for past City of Fresno backing and will still help residents with resources and referrals while hoping new funding can eventually revive the center.
   

2. Federal lawsuit challenges Fresno's anti-camping law as city braces for legal battle (kmph.com) — A Fresno attorney has filed a federal lawsuit challenging the city’s anti-camping law, arguing it criminalizes people experiencing homelessness and violates constitutional rights. City leaders, including the council president and city attorney, say the ordinance targets behavior, not housing status, and vow to aggressively defend it, potentially all the way to the Supreme Court.
   

3. How much will it cost to park for Fresno's first nighttime Christmas parade? (yourcentralvalley.com) — Downtown Fresno is hosting its first-ever nighttime Christmas parade tonight at 6:30 p.m., with 96 entries and special $10 parking in all three city garages. Streets along Fulton from Inyo to Calaveras will close by mid-morning, with about 30 officers managing safety and traffic as businesses stay open late to welcome crowds.
   

4. Dangers for unhoused people rise during frigid Valley nights (abc30.com) — Cold overnight temperatures in Fresno are putting unhoused residents at serious risk, with two people found dead in a tent after using a warming fire. Local doctors are warning about hypothermia dangers, while the Fresno Mission’s downtown warming center is seeing rising demand and still has capacity for more people needing a warm, safe place to sleep.
   

5. ‘What fire?' Fresno's Bobby Salazar appears to poke fun at arson charges in video (fresnobee.com) — Fresno restaurateur Bobby Salazar is drawing attention for a TikTok skit where he jokes about “fire” while facing federal arson and fraud charges tied to a 2024 blaze at one of his restaurants. Prosecutors say he could face lengthy prison time and large fines if convicted, while he continues using social media to spotlight his food business.
