2K Marijuana Plants Destroyed In Santa Clara Co. Operation.: Sheriff
No arrests were made, but detectives also seized 33 firearms and approximately nine pounds of marijuana.
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — Santa Clara County Sheriff’s detectives seized approximately nine pounds of marijuana and eradicated around 2,000 marijuana plants in the unincorporated foothills east of Morgan Hill on Monday.
No arrests were made, but detectives also seized 33 firearms and determined that those running the operation were “heavily armed and extremely protective of this illegal operation,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a Facebook post.
The operators were also suspected of dumping diesel fuel into the water supply and other environmental violations.

The sheriff’s office described the operation as “prolific,” capable of producing three or more cycles per year which amounts to around $6 million a year in profits.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife assisted in serving the search warrant Monday.
