Alleged Gilroy Gang Members Accused In String Of Robberies
Police allege gang members from Gilroy were behind at least five strong-armed robberies in San Jose in July and August.
SAN JOSE, CA — Five alleged gang members arrested in recent weeks are suspects in at least five strong-armed robberies in San Jose, according to police.
Investigators said the first incident happened on July 24, when officers were called to the scene of a robbery on Eastridge Loop. According to police, two men approached a juvenile, pushed him and ripped off a gold necklace while showing gang signs and yelling slurs.
The gang unit took over the case and determined the group was associated with a Gilroy-based gang that committed several robberies in July and August. Police allege the suspects brandished guns and knives during some of the robberies, initially targeting rival gang members before moving on to target other "victims of opportunity" around San Jose.
