GILROY, CA — Construction has begun on the intersection of 10th Street and Orchard Drive to provide a safer crossing for Gilroy High School students, according to a news release Friday.
The project will include a new rapid flashing beacon system at the intersection adjacent to the high school, curb ramps at the intersection corners, concrete islands and striping improvements such as bike lanes.
The construction is expected to be completed by mid-August. City officials said to expect minor traffic disruptions like shoulder and lane closures, pedestrian detours and parking restrictions near the intersection.
