​Earthquake Shakes South Bay

The earthquake was reported Sunday morning.

BAY AREA, CA — A 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck San Benito County on Sunday morning, according to the US Geological Survey. It had a depth of 5 kilometers, or just over 3 miles.

The earthquake was reported at 1:08 a.m., with an epicenter 14 miles south-southeast of Gilroy and 15 miles northeast of Salinas.

22 people reported experiencing the earthquake in Hollister, just under 4 miles from the estimated epicenter of the quake, according to the USGS.

There were no power or gas outages in the area following the quake, according to PG&E's live outage map.
